Ask Jeeves's mission is to deliver the most relevant answers to your everyday searches. We do this by providing a variety of results in response to your search queries. These results are generated through multiple methods - from hand-selected answers to results delivered using state-of-the-art search technology. We explain below how we generate our search results, and define some of the terms we use on our results page.

Recommended Results
Editors have selected certain sites or results as being particularly useful or relevant to your search. Third party partners may in some cases pay for some of these results, but we are unable to regulate or monitor the services provided by or performance of their websites.. However, if we are made aware of any third party partner whose site does not comply with applicable laws or regulations, any results paid for by them are liable to be removed from our results pages.

Web Results
Ask Jeeves delivers its primary web search results using Ask Jeeves's search technology. Ask Jeeves search technology uses sophisticated algorithms and Subject-Specific Popularity data to generate the most relevant and authoritative results on the Web. In some instances companies pay to have their websites included within the dataset, otherwise known as the Index. However, like all websites, these sites are processed through Ask.Jeeves's search algorithms and are not guaranteed placement in the results. This ensures that relevancy is the primary driver of results.

Image or Picture Search
When you do an image or picture search, we will deliver thumbnail images related to your query, displayed in order of relevance. These images or pictures may be protected by copyright.

Adult Content
Ask Jeeves receives millions of searches each day, some of which relate to adult content. Ask Jeeves uses technology that will trigger a warning page if it detects that sexually explicit search results are likely to be returned by a user search. However, while we constantly seek to use the most effective and up to date systems to ensure that warnings are given before any adult content is returned, users should note that current technology is unlikely to be 100% effective, and should proceed accordingly. We also take extra steps to block sexual content from being viewed by children by offering Family Filter technology.

Sponsored Results
Sponsored results have been paid for by advertisers, and are labeled as "sponsored results".We are unable to regulate or monitor the services provided by or performance of advertisers' websites, but all content for which they are responsible is required to comply with applicable laws and regulations including the Advertising Standard Authority's CAP Code in the UK. If we are made aware of any advertisers who do not meet these requirements, any results sponsored by them are liable to be removed from our results pages.

Comments about a 3rd party website
We are unable to monitor or regulate the services provided by or performance of any third party websites linked to by means of the Ask Jeeves search engine.Complaints about websites and/or links found via Ask Jeeves should first be directed to the third party website in question, or alternatively to the appropriate regulatory body, such as the Office of Fair Trading. We advise extra caution when ordering items from websites based outside the UK. For more details, please see our "Terms of Service".
